What attracted you to the role at saintnicks?
I had heard a lot of good things about saintnicks and the culture here. I was also very keen to work for a creative brand agency in Bristol and learn new skills from the creative team.
What are your go to sources of inspiration or can’t live without tools?
I follow websites like Creative Boom and It’s Nice That to stay updated on creative trends and for quick inspiration I use Dribbble, LinkedIn, Behance and Muzli.
I have a few favourite design tools that have helped me massively in my career. One of them is colourcontrast.cc, which is a tool to help establish if colours are accessible to everyone. Another is Magnific – a tool that makes AI images appear more real. I can often tell when an image is created by Discord or ChatGBT but Magnific takes that same image and adds more realistic textures to make it look as close-to-reality as possible.
How did you get into the industry? Any advice for aspiring Designers?
When I was younger I went to the Warner Brothers Studio tour and saw all the graphic design that was done for the Harry Potter films, this is what made me decide that this was the career I wanted to go for.
I studied Graphic Design at Bath Spa university and then begun my job search, looking for design roles in a Bath or Bristol creative brand agency. My main advice would be to just really put yourself out there; send emails to the agencies you love and put the effort into making your portfolio showcase your best work from concept to production. Seeing the thought process behind a design is just as important to the actual finalised work.
What piece of work (campaign or otherwise) are you most proud of?
I think I would say I’m most proud of a Julian House animation I did for a Christmas campaign to bring awareness to homelessness. It was a project that was for a good cause and I got to work on it from start to finish, combining both my interests of illustration and animation.
Is there a campaign or piece of design you admire?
I have always loved Yukai Du’s work, she uses bright colours and patterns in her illustrations and animation that instantly makes her work so recognisable to her style.

And, as for campaigns, a key one that has always stood out to me was the British Airways ‘Out of Office’ campaign that launched when everyone was back at work after Covid and the values for work/life balance had shifted. It was a great campaign that highlighted these shifting attitudes with smart copy and simple design execution – which only ever works if the idea is well thought out.
To round things off, where’s Bristol’s best hidden gem?
I would have to say FED on Gloucester Road. It’s one of my favourite places to take people. Or for dinner, it has to be Seven Lucky Gods.
